Distribution & Pick up
Handed out June 3, 2027
Pick up by June 14, 2027
Yearbooks that are not picked up by the end of the school year, the Monday after graduation, are the property of the District to be disposed of in the manner deemed appropriate by the District.
Senior portraits
School pictures are taken at registration for your ID card, and that photo goes in the yearbook unless you replace it. Seniors have the option to use a professional senior portrait instead, for the yearbook only. Students are responsible for giving the submission information to their photographers.
ID photos are used for more than ID cards and yearbooks. The school uses them for recognitions through the year, and they can be published in newsletters, newspapers, websites and social media. Dress and groom for your ID photo either way.
Portrait must be
- Vertical
- Full color
- Front facing and looking at the camera
- Include all the head & shoulders
- Face unobstructed (no hands on face or hats)
- Follows the dress code
- Only the senior is in the photo
Be aware of the background. Vehicles, trees and even walls may look odd once the photo is cropped and placed. The photo is straight on at eye level, not from above or below, and it is not an over the shoulder or looking back pose.
Think driver's license photo, but nicer. Your yearbook photo can be used at the DMV to prove your identity.
Portrait NOs
- No horizontal portraits
- No black & white images
- No filters
- No face paint/ face masks
- No props, hats, or cars
- No animals or other people
- No full body
- No gestures or hand symbols
- No screenshots
- Not downloaded from social media
- Not taken from the side, above, or below
Each of these photos has its charm, but the faces are not visible enough to use as an official portrait, or they will crop unflatteringly. Use them in your senior ad instead.
The file
- Minimum file size requirements: 2 x 3 inches at 300 pixels per inch, JPEG file. Larger file size is better.
- Photos will not be accepted via flash drive, email, or hard copy prints. All photos must be submitted electronically through the yearbook portal.
- The name submitted with the picture must be the legal name on file with the school, unless there is a parent or guardian approved preferred name on file. Preferred names and nicknames may be used in candid pictures, quotations and other references.
- The software has its own confirmation page once a file uploads. Check that everything is spelled correctly.
How to submit it
- Through the Yearbook Order Center, school number 12303.
- Straight through yearbookshare.com, school number 12303.
- Stop by the yearbook room, 604, before or after school for help.
Questions go to Jennifer Brown, [email protected].
Also worth knowing
- Cropping happens when your submission moves into the photo frame on the page, so leave some space above your head and at the sides. Poses that are full length, sitting or leaning run the risk of cropping awkwardly. The yearbook staff reserve the right to crop or zoom as needed.
- Only students enrolled at CHS by the photo deadline are included in the senior portraits section.
- Notifications of portrait violations do not have to be given, though the staff will do their best to help make sure a photo is correct. Communication is through email only, and the school ID picture is used instead if no response is received.
- Once the portrait pages are made they are printed out for seniors to check their photo, name and spelling. It is up to the senior to check this for inclusion and accuracy. Administration has final say on approval of senior portraits.

How the ad pages work
- There are a limited number of ad pages. Ads are accepted first come first serve, until the pages or sizes are full. Ad space is guaranteed until November 1, which does not guarantee every size will still be available.
- You can edit your ad as many times as you want before you pay, and design more than one. Ad spaces can fill up while you are in the middle of creating one, especially in late October and early November.
- Ads have to be designed in the portal. The options are pre-set by the yearbook staff so the pages match.
- Paying confirms you are happy with the ad you designed, even if it is blank. Only completed and paid ads reach the CHS yearbook team.
- Changing an ad after you have paid goes through the publishing company and has a fee. It is best to submit the ad you want the first time.
- The yearbook staff reserve the right to edit an ad if the words or pictures are not school appropriate. You will be notified if your ad will be edited.
