How the night runs
What to expect at the Kroc
The party starts once the graduation ceremony lets out and goes until 3 AM. Here is how the pieces of it fit together, from walking in the door to the last raffle drawing.
-
Getting in
Nobody has to show a ticket at the door. Parents handle check in, and every senior gets a bag and an envelope with tickets for cafe drinks and anything else they need over the course of the night.
-
Safe and sober
Every senior takes a breathalyzer on the way into the building. Once a senior leaves the Kroc they cannot come back in, so plan on staying for the whole thing. Parents cover the doors all night to keep everyone inside the party areas, which includes the outdoor space behind the cafe.
-
The store
Every CHS senior at the party gets time to shop the store, and nobody leaves empty handed. Past years have sent seniors home with Stanleys and Owalas, tents, digital cameras, Bluetooth speakers, and hammocks. Shopping order follows the order tickets were bought, so buying early means an earlier turn.
-
The casino
This is the part seniors look forward to most. Parents deal blackjack, poker, and roulette, and the money everyone wins gets traded in for raffle tickets.
-
The raffle
Raffle tickets come from the casino tables, and the drawing happens at the end of the night. CHS is known for what ends up on that prize table.
-
Three gyms
We have access to three gyms at the Kroc. One is set aside for a pickleball tournament, one for open basketball, and the third for the mechanical bull, sumo wrestling, jousting, and whatever else we book. The rock wall, air hockey, pool table, and corn hole are open too.
-
Food
Snacks and drinks are out all night. We are hoping to have a few food trucks there as well.
Parent involvement
It takes a village
The party is run by parents from start to finish, from the first donation letter in the fall to the last casino table going back into storage. Nobody is asked to take on the whole night, and most of these volunteer spots are only a couple of hours.
-
Fundraising
Sending donation ask letters to businesses and families who might want to support the party.
-
Ticket sales
Running the ticket table at events through the year.
-
Entertainment
Booking and running the acts and the activities, from the DJ and the illusionist to the henna tattoos, the mechanical bull and the rock wall.
-
Casino
Dealing the tables, and getting them set up before doors and packed away afterwards.
-
Gyms
Running the pickleball tournament, open basketball, and whatever we book into the third gym.
-
The store
Stocking the store and running it so every senior gets a turn to shop.
-
Raffle
Gathering prizes and running the drawing at the end of the night.
-
Food
Keeping snacks and drinks out all night, and chasing the food trucks we are hoping to book.
-
Student check in
Checking seniors in at the door and handing out their bag and envelope.
-
Set up and clean up
Hauling, setting up, tearing down, and getting the CHS casino tables back into storage.
-
Security
Covering the doors so seniors stay inside the party areas once they are in.
If you can take a shift, deal a table, haul a load of supplies, or make one phone call to a business, let us know and we will find the right spot for you.
